Fotofacial/IPL:

Reverse the signs of sun damaged skin with Fotofacial/IPL treatment.

If you're an active person, chances are you spend more than your fair share of time in the sun. And if you're over thirty, you are more than likely to show signs of premature aging due to sun damage. With fotofacial IPL treatment, you can now treat sun spots, pigmented lesions and overall skin texture—giving you a more revitalized appearance than you've had in years.

What is Fotofacial/IPL?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL treatments address the effects of photo-aging and sun damage with low risk of complications and little recovery time. IPL is the gold standard for photo-rejuvenation. This FDA cleared; patented technology provides dramatic results for a variety of benign conditions, including age spots, sun-induced freckles, symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, and other blemishes and even unwanted hair.

Why choose IPL over other treatments?

Laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels often send patients into hiding, as they wait for redness and swelling to subside. Microdermabrasion addresses skin irregularities, but is not effective against all complexion problems including redness, flushing and broken capillaries. Face lifts and other surgical procedures are far too invasive for younger patients who simply want to revitalize their appearance without recovery downtime.

How many treatments and when?

The Transformations practitioners determine an IPL treatment plan for each patient depending on each patient’s skin type and severity of skin condition being treated. On average, three to six treatments are recommended, scheduled three to four weeks apart. Each session lasts 20-30 minutes, with patients returning to normal activity immediately afterwards.

What to expect BEFORE treatment?

Before treatment a topical anesthetic may be applied for 15-20 minutes. Most patients say they feel a sensation similar to that of a rubber band snap. Patients must wear protective eyewear and cannot be tan or have used tanning lotions or sprays. Light is delivered to the skin surface in precise pulses. The skin can turn red like a sunburn for 24-48 hours. Occasionally depending on how aggressive the treatment, mild swelling, bruising, or blistering can occur. In most cases, the entire face is treated, but the therapy can also work on the neck, chest, and hands.

What to expect AFTER treatment?

You will see improvement after each treatment your skin will look and feel smoother giving you a more even skin tone. Over time sunspots will fade, pore size will reduce, and fine lines and wrinkles will smooth out. Rosacea patients will see gradual yet progressive improvement with each appointment.
